Controlled Temperature for Reproducible RT-DC Experiments

Mechanical properties of cells are highly temperature-dependent.
Changes in temperature influence cytoskeletal dynamics, membrane viscosity, enzymatic activity and cell cycle progression.

The HeatModule enables real-time deformability cytometry (RT-DC) under precisely controlled thermal conditions — ensuring reproducibility, physiological relevance and experimental stability.

Designed as an integrated incubation system for the AcCellerator platform, it allows long-term measurements at defined temperatures up to 37 °C.

Integrated Incubation System for the AcCellerator

The HeatModule encapsulates large parts of the AcCellerator in a thermally controlled enclosure.

Key specifications:

  • Temperature range: ambient to 37 °C

  • Temperature stability: ±0.5 °C

  • Temperature accuracy: ±0.5 °C

  • 300 W heating unit

  • Silent ventilation system for homogeneous air distribution

  • Temperature sensor positioned close to the sample

  • Automatic controller tuning

  • Overheat protection

Fast air circulation ensures rapid temperature recovery after opening the enclosure.

Stable Conditions for Extended Experiments

The HeatModule enables:

  • RT-DC measurements under physiological conditions

  • Controlled experiments on temperature-sensitive cell types

  • Long-term measurements without thermal drift

  • Reproducible comparison across experimental days

This is particularly relevant for:

  • stem cell research

  • immune cell activation studies

  • drug response profiling

  • mechanotransduction experiments

Seamless Integration into the AcCellerator Platform

The HeatModule is fully compatible with:

  • AcCellerator systems based on Zeiss AxioObserver

  • existing installations

The package includes:

  • AcCellerator-compatible incubator box (Plexiglas and Makrolon)

  • installation and user training

No modification of core RT-DC measurement workflow is required.
