Microfluidic Chips for Cell Mechanics, Sorting and Blood Analysis

Precision-engineered microfluidic consumables for RT-DC systems

Our microfluidic chips are specifically developed for controlled hydrodynamic cell deformation, active cell sorting and automated whole blood analysis.

Each chip type is optimized for its dedicated platform to ensure reproducible mechanical stress conditions, precise geometry and reliable single-use operation.

FlicXX – High-Precision RT-DC Measurement Chips

FlicXX chips are designed for real-time deformability cytometry (RT-DC) measurements with the AcCellerator platform.

Cells are deformed by hydrodynamic forces inside a precisely defined microchannel cross-section. Each chip is prepared under cleanroom conditions and quality controlled for single-use operation.

Channel cross-sections available:

  • Flic15

  • Flic20

  • Flic30

  • Flic40

The number in FlicXX defines the channel width in micrometers (e.g. Flic20: 20 ± 1.5 µm)

Technical features:

  • Borosilicate glass (0.19–0.23 mm)

  • PDMS microfluidic layer

  • Debris filter integrated

  • Sheath-flow design

  • Single-use format for maximum reproducibility

These chips provide defined deformation conditions for quantitative mechanical phenotyping.

FlicSo – Microfluidic Chips for Active Cell Sorting

FlicSo chips are developed for use with the SortingModule.

They enable active, label-free sorting based on mechanical and morphological parameters.

Key features:

  • Dual-channel design (20 µm and 30 µm)

  • Designed for two-way sorting experiments

  • Compatible with pressure-driven flow-shift sorting

  • Luer connector interface for tubing integration

  • Two triple-containers for sorting pressure and sample collection

FlicSo is optimized for reliable sorting under controlled hydrodynamic conditions.

RubyC – Single-Use Chips for Automated Whole Blood Analysis

RubyC chips are exclusively designed for the AcCellerator Ruby system.

They enable fully automated whole blood analysis without direct contact between the biological sample and the instrument.

Integrated design:

  • 1 reservoir for whole blood

  • 2 reservoirs for measurement buffer

  • 1 waste reservoir

  • Closed fluidic architecture

The blood sample remains entirely inside the disposable chip during the measurement process.
No cleaning of the device is required after use.

RubyC chips support rapid and reproducible translational workflows in clinical research environments.

Quality and Manufacturing

All chip types are:

  • Manufactured under controlled conditions

  • Individually inspected

  • Designed for single-use applications

  • Optimized for stable hydrodynamic performance

Precise microchannel geometry is critical for quantitative mechanical characterization. Each chip family is therefore tailored to its dedicated system and application.
